13 Chrome Pipe

We Buy and Recycle 13 Chrome Pipe Across the Gulf Coast

Gulf Coast Metal Buyers buys and recycles used and surplus 13 chrome pipe from oil and gas operators, pipe yards, and contractors throughout the Gulf Coast. Much of the 13 chrome OCTG pipe we handle comes from wells and operations around Houston, Beaumont, and Louisiana, where corrosive production conditions call for higher-alloy tubulars.

If you have 13 chrome tubing or casing sitting in a yard with no clear next step, our team can evaluate the material, make an offer, and coordinate pickup. Request a quote to get started.

What Is 13 Chrome Pipe?

13 chrome, often written as 13Cr, is a martensitic stainless steel containing roughly 13% chromium. It’s manufactured as OCTG (oil country tubular goods) tubing and casing, most commonly to the API 5CT L80-13Cr grade. Higher-performance versions, often called Super 13 chrome, add nickel and molybdenum for even greater corrosion resistance.

Operators run 13 chrome OCTG pipe in wells that produce carbon dioxide, saltwater, and other corrosive fluids, conditions that wear down standard carbon steel quickly. Its alloy content helps the pipe hold up in those environments over the life of the well.

Why 13 Chrome Is Difficult to Repurpose

The same chemistry that makes 13 chrome valuable downhole makes it hard to reuse once it comes out of service. 13 chrome pipe is difficult to weld, and welding it typically calls for specialized procedures and heat treatment that aren’t practical in the field. That rules out most of the secondary uses common for carbon steel tubulars:

  • It can’t be welded into ranch fencing, corrals, or gates the way standard fence pipe can
  • It isn’t a practical choice for structural fabrication
  • Its chromium and nickel content means it should be graded and handled separately from carbon steel scrap

As a result, many operators and yard owners end up holding 13 chrome pipe they don’t know what to do with. Gulf Coast Metal Buyers gives that material a clear path forward.

How We Buy and Recycle 13 Chrome OCTG Pipe

Gulf Coast Metal Buyers purchases 13 chrome tubing and casing in commercial quantities, including used pipe pulled from service and surplus inventory that was never run. Our team evaluates each load, keeps 13 chrome separated from carbon steel, and routes it to specialty processors and recyclers equipped to handle high-alloy steel.

We also coordinate onsite scrap removal, transportation, and logistics, so you can clear out 13 chrome inventory without tying up your own crew or equipment.

We buy from:

  • Oil and gas operators
  • OCTG suppliers and pipe yards
  • Drilling and workover contractors
  • Industrial companies clearing surplus inventory
